Snaps from Sydney 2003 |
"Stark presents us with personal glimpses of frantic moments of street life removed from their context of space and time by the click of the shutter. Images are juxtaposed as contrasting ideas, as parodies, as metaphors. Differences of culture, gender, age, social activity, political and personal statement are contrasted to evoke a dialogue between the subject and the viewer. These images are refreshingly natural. They are about the subjects, and the considered and thoughtful vision of the photographer."

“The acute street photographer becomes stark conduit to a
pure and wholly pernicious form of madness. For we are
tracking endlessly the nameless hope … lost in the
Tasmanian wilderness with just a crumpled sepia image of
a tiger in our hearts; we whisper … here puss puss puss”
