“This one by Andrew Stark - I like it so much because it takes the multiple layers thing that you see in street photography all the time, but I feel he has done that but made it better because not only are there a lot of interesting subjects that are layered, there’s so many emotions going on. It’s like layered subjects and layered emotions and I just really admire his observational skills. He has a lot of very interesting photo’s because he’s skilled at capturing peoples emotions at just the right second.

Another interesting thing about this photo is that, you know, there’s the couple in the back kissing you see right away, and there’s this couple hugging up towards the front. But I actually looked at this photo several times before I saw, to the very left in the front – this kid crying. I only saw that more recently and I was like wow, there’s a whole other thing going on here.

So it’s a photo you can look at for a long time and keep seeing stuff.”

I was a resident in his electorate of Grayndler back when I took the 1996 photograph. At that time, a fresh faced Albo was running in the safe Labor seat for the very first time. Fast forward to 2025 and Albanese was re-elected as the nation's leader with a record majority. Although as my photo reveals - he does still have one or two critics ...
